New OSB loan officer is a familiar face in the community.

In August 2019, Dana Hornbeck joined the Oklahoma State Bank family, bringing with her 26 years of banking experience and a passion for building long-term relationships with customers. A lifelong resident of Logan County, Dana has enjoyed a very successful banking career, being named “Best Loan Officer” in multiple Guthrie News Leader reader polls. She attributes much of her success to her role model.
“My inspiration is my dad, who is now retired after more than forty years in banking,” she says. “My whole life, I have watched him combine his love of helping people with sound banking practices, always showing compassion and respect for everyone. As bankers, we cannot always say yes to every person or every deal, but we must always encourage everyone in their pursuits and treat them equally with kindness and respect. My dad does this without fail, and I constantly try to follow his lead.”
Dana’s compassion for people extends well beyond her loyal customers. Over the years, she has volunteered for numerous local organizations, serving on boards and donating her time in many other capacities for the United Way, Logan County Red Cross, Logan County Hospital (serving on the finance committee), Logan County Aging Services, and more.
“I am very proud to be a Logan County native,” she says. “There is so much history here, starting with the hospital where I was born, Benedictine Heights, which is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. The beautiful historic homes, churches and buildings that surround our Guthrie and Mulhall bank locations are tourist attractions that I am lucky enough to view and treasure each day.”
In addition to her many years in lending, Dana’s banking experience includes loan administration, bank conversions and serving as a staff mentor. She earned a degree in education and community services at Oklahoma State University, and is a graduate of Oklahoma Bankers Association’s schools of compliance, consumer lending and commercial lending.
“Something I didn’t learn in school but that I practice every day at work is to treat customers the way I want to be treated,” she says. “For many people, it takes a lot of courage to go to a bank and sit down in an office with a banker to ask for a loan. If you are not accustomed to a banking environment, it can be a bit out of your comfort zone. I have found that if I take the extra time to extend a warm welcome to customers and find some common ground with them, it helps to ease their concerns.”Founded in 1909, Oklahoma State Bank prides itself on helping customers reach their financial goals.
