David Schaefer led the group of investors in the purchase of OSB. Steve McDaniel joined David in the Leadership Team shortly after the purchase agreement was made. Those two organized the investors, guided the due diligence, and created the great bank culture we now enjoy. The purchase was completed July 3, 2012. David earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Kansas. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a graduate of the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking from Southern Methodist University. He has immense banking experience and has held a variety of bank management positions with community, metropolitan, and large regional banks, including as President, Chief Executive Officer, Market President, and Executive Vice President. David is a longtime resident of Norman, Oklahoma where his community involvement includes present or past service as Norman Regional Hospital Foundation Board Member, Norman/OKC Rotary Club, Member of Capital/Endowment Campaign Committee of the Assistance League of Norman, Volunteer Chairperson of the American Heart Association, and Norman Economic Development Coalition.
Steve McDaniel has been with OSB since its purchase in July 2012. He earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Finance from Cameron University. In addition, Steve graduated from Louisiana State University Graduate School of Banking and was a member of a bank-management team that received the honor of “Best Bank” in the Bank Simulation Model. He has held a variety of positions at different community banks located in the Norman and Oklahoma City area, including Senior Vice President/Chief Lending Officer. Steve is a longtime resident of Norman, Oklahoma where his community involvement includes former President for the Norman Kiwanis Club, member of the Community Advisory Committee to the Norman Public Schools, former Chair of Citizens Advisory Board of Cleveland County, former Treasurer of Big Brothers Big Sisters-Cleveland County, and former Board Chair for the United Way of Norman. He currently serves as President of the Norman Athletic Association, Inc. and President for the Norman North Football Booster Club.
Mel Barnes joined OSB in December 2014. Mel has over 20 years of experience from previous positions held at prominent banks located in Central Oklahoma. Her areas of expertise include business development, training, customer service, sales, developing and implementing operational processes, and electronic payment systems. In addition to being an Accredited ACH Professional, she has extensive knowledge and experience in operations and new technologies that are shaping the banking industry. Mel has volunteered for various United Way of Norman agencies and is a graduate of Leadership Norman.
Brenda Mull joined OSB in February 2013. Brenda is a graduate of Leadership Guymon, Dale Carnegie, and the Oklahoma Bankers Association's Consumer Lending School, Commercial Lending School and Compliance School. She has over 30 years of experience in various areas of banking including operations, accounting, compliance, audit, loan administration, lending, human resources, and customer service. Throughout the years, she engaged in various community organizations and volunteered her services to organizations such as Meals on Wheels, Sunday school church programs, and organizing Christmas charity drives for children. She also served as an officer and member of the School Board Association and President of the Canute FFA Ag Booster Club in Canute, Oklahoma.
Mike Murphy joined OSB in June 2015. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Finance and Master of Business Administration degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. He graduated from Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Mike worked as a Financial Institutions Examiner for seven years at the FDIC in the late 1980s to the mid-1990s. He then joined an area bank, where he rose to the role of Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and board member. In 2015, he helped facilitate the sale of that bank. Mike is an active community member and has served on committees and boards for various organizations including the United Way of Norman, Cleveland County Habitat for Humanity, and the Oklahoma Bankers Association for three years.
Donovan Reed joined OSB in November 2015. Donovan earned his bachelor's degree in Operations Management and Finance and a Master of Business Administration degree from West Virginia University. During his 20-year career, Donovan worked for regional and community banks primarily handling Commercial & Industrial (C&I), Commercial Real Estate, and Energy and Natural Resource clients. He has substantial experience in consultative selling, credit risk analysis, and Special Asset management. In addition, Donovan was involved in several civic and industry organizations including the Risk Management Association, Junior Achievement, and various United Way agencies.
